The Atom Software summit is just kicking of here at Computex. We’re expecting to hear about roadmap, support for advanced features such as multitouch, sensors, gestures. Viliv is showing off a new product, the X10, at Computex. While demonstrating the iPad to a family member the other night, and explaining the advantages/disadvantages of it when compared to a regular computer, an interesting thought popped into my head, and I’d like to hear your opinion on it. I was really surprised that Apple didn’t do anything “magical” or “revolutionary” with the iPad’s [Portal page] on-screen-keyboard. The iPhone’s was definitely revolutionary because it was probably the first truly viable OSK – thanks to some intelligent software design and a capacitive screen instead of a resistive one. I’ve just had some close-up time with MeeGo 1.0 with the tablet UI on a Moorestown platform (1.5Ghz) in a product that weighed about 800gm (my estimate.) Watch the video for more. It’s interesting don’t you think? Engadget for some more details about the platform.

I’ve just posted news over at UMPCPortal about a Wistron MeeGo Tablet based on Moorestown, running MeeGo. There’s more though. Take this for a huge hint about what’s happening at the Linpus stand… And this, a netbook platform being used to demonstrate MeeGo. (Video demo of that one later)
