Despite having a presence at CES, my favorite deal-a-day site, Woot.com didn’t manage to snag any of those fancy new tables that were put on display. They did however, managed to secure a stock of Augen Gentouch78 slate android devices that will let you jump into the Android game rather cheaply, but also fit snuggly into the “you get what you pay for category”.

Chippy briefly wrote about the Atrix from the show floor, but it’s presence on our site was otherwise lost in the avalanche of news happening during those days. Now that the dust has settled, I can safely say that the Atrix represents something that I’m very excited about. Chippy called it “phone as a CPU” and I think that’s a great analogy for it.

So today is the big day for people who have been predicting that Apple would launch a Verizon iPhone at every single Apple event since the original iPhone announcement in 2007. Nice work guys, your “predictions” came true 4 years later. For those who didn’t follow any of the live blogs, the Verizon iPhone 4 will be, for the most part, aesthetically identical to the AT&T version, and is priced the same. And while it’s still just the iPhone 4, there’s actually some advantages over the AT&T version.

While ARM and Android is allowing designers to move mobile computing products into the personal computing space, Intel and Android are going in the other direction. We’ve seen Android on X86 before and it doesn’t really impress when it’s on a standard PC platform with no always-on, GPS, 3G and market but when it’s shown [...]

In terms of build quality, the Enspert E301 stood out from the other tablets at CES. It’s from the company that brought you the Inbrics M1 (and used to be called ‘Identity.’) The Inbrics M1 never reached EU or US markets so let’s hope this one does better. With cellular data planned for the device, [...]

With an incoming surge of Tegra dual-core Android tablets and phones hitting the market Nvidia have made the move to highlight Tegra optimised games. I was just having a little chat with Zinio yesterday. They’re the people that put magazines online (and are part of the Galaxy Tab ‘Readers Hub application) bit as I tested the latest update on Android, I spotted something. I didn’t know this 7″ tablet that seemed to be performing quite well. A look at [...]

Viewsonic seem fairly clear about the G10S products final specs and seeing as their are some very similar / branded variants on the market already, it is likely that this will be available very shortly. We’re talking about an Android Open Source 2.2 (no Market, Gmail, Navigation etc.) buid on a Tegra2 platform with some [...]

Surprisingly, there’s a bunch of Playbooks here at CES to, er, play with. The number of people her jostling for a touch reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy Tab launch at IDF in September. Something’s going right! Price and applications, these are two important but missing pieces to the Blackberry Playbook puzzle that could make [...]

Acer have a reputation in the netbook world – they push prices down. I wonder if that’s going to be the case for the Picasso Tablet? Based on Tegra2 with what looks like 16GB of storage and a capacitive touchscreen it has 2011-potential; Just like the Dell Streak 7. As we get nearer to Honeycomb, [...]

Samsung was one of the partners today at Verizon’s CES conference, and in addition to an upgraded version of the Galaxy Tab, they also announced a smartphone for Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Oddly though, the press release issued by Samsung is simply calling the phone “The Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone”. I’m presuming it’ll come under [...]

Today at Verizon’s CES conference, JK Shin, the president of Samsung, whipped a 4G equipped Galaxy Tab out of his coat pocket. This slightly upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy tab has a faster CPU and better rear camera. The Cortex A8 CPU has been slightly increased from 1GHz to 1.2GHz. The rear camera has [...]

Our good friends at Viliv gave as some quality time with all their 3 new devices this morning. This video is from the X10, a 10” 1024×600 Android device with an excellent (bright, great viewing angle) screen and a big, 31wh battery. The Samsung s5pc110 has the Power VR 540 graphics core in it too [...]

Following the theme of ‘guess the unique selling point for the tablet’ it’s worth pointing out here that the Dell Streak might be running 2.2 in this demo but not only is 2.3 possible but Honeycomb too. I expect this one to be the ‘long-shelf-life’ 7”er of 2011! Here’s a video. More images in the [...]
