Asus Eee Pad Slider Review

Posted on 23 August 2011

Asus’ Transformer model has been noted for its overall quality, design and its uniqueness, particularly with its detachable keyboard. Asus have taken this concept one step further and asks the question – if the keyboard component worked so well on the Transformer, would an integrated keyboard in a tablet be just as successful? The answer is a resounding yes, though with some caveats, mostly related to bulkiness and weight. But if you’re willing to put up with a thicker, heavier unit, and expect to do a fair bit of emails, documents and any other types of data entry that needs a keyboard, this unit could be your answer.

What HP’s Earnings Call Could Mean for Mobile

Posted on 23 August 2011

Last Thursday afternoon, the mobile and PC world was (moderately) shocked by Hewlett-Packard’s announcement that they were considering “all strategic options” for contending with the negative impact the HP Personal Systems Group (PSG) was having on the corporation’s total valuation. Key in this consideration will be the eventual fate of WebOS, the mobile OS that [...]

Blast from the Past: Sony Clie UX50 — Maybe This is Where WebOS Should End Up

Posted on 19 August 2011

Once upon a time, Sony made some really amazing handheld devices. Sadly, it seems that they’ve lost their imagination and creativity, and haven’t wowed us with anything in a good many years. Sure, they’ve got a few Android handsets on the market, and they’re even working on two Honeycomb tablets, but damn, Sony, look at [...]

Changing Ecosystems From iOS to Android (and how iOS 5 could tempt me back)

Posted on 15 August 2011

Up until recently, I had not strayed far from the iPhone family. I have owned a few iterations of the iPhone, and have seen its evolution in hardware along with the massive growth of the app store. And for the most part, the iPhone has fulfilled my needs, and indeed surprised me with functions that I didn’t realise I could do with.

Using the Eee Pad Transformer as an Enterprise Productivity Device

Posted on 14 August 2011

I’ve been inspired by Jerry to make the move to using only the Asus Eeepad transformer at work. I’ll be using only my Atrix and Eee Pad Transformer for all business related activities, no PC at all. I am passing my Vaio down to my wife to replace an old netbook and the budget doesn’t [...]

Posted on 12 August 2011

In this article, it is my intention to take a critical look at the Android user interface. Some people may read this as though I’m lambasting Android, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. I quite respect Android as an excellent mobile operating system, but I also believe that looking critically at anything can [...]
