I recently got my hands on a trial Huawei MediaPad 7 and over the last week I have been using it instead of my Eee Pad Transformer to see how it stacks up in the workplace. The screen is one of the Huawei MediPad 7′s strongest features. It’s a 7” capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of [...]

I managed to get a Huawei Mediapad for a few weeks to trial. I only managed to get a few hours in with the device today and snap off a couple of low res pictures from my phone but I’ll follow up with an in-depth overview and some high quality photos in a few days. [...]

Up until today we’ve only been able to buy the Wifi version of the Acer Iconica A500 Android tablet here in Australia, but this info received today has announced the availability of the 3G version. It’s called the Acer Iconia Tab A501 Pro, and the only difference I can see from the A500 is the [...]

As you may be aware Jerry and I are trying to get by in the Enterprise space with only our tablets and no Windows based laptops. Jerry’s using the Acer Iconia Tab and I am using my Asus Eeepad transformer with keyboard dock. Jerry has a few posts up on his experience so far. Week one using [...]

I’ve been inspired by Jerry to make the move to using only the Asus Eeepad transformer at work. I’ll be using only my Atrix and Eee Pad Transformer for all business related activities, no PC at all. I am passing my Vaio down to my wife to replace an old netbook and the budget doesn’t [...]

Two devices recently stood out as a different kind of productivity solution, both offering the ability to convert between a tablet and a netbook. The choice is between the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and the Acer Iconia W500. The Eee Pad runs Android Honeycomb while the Acer runs windows 7. Both offer the ability to [...]

I recently had a late evening flight delayed which left me with about an hour before boarding. While waiting in the lounge I thought I’d seize the moment and catch up on some work. Unfortunately I had forgotten my AC adapter for the laptop and, in the interests of saving weight, decided to not bring [...]

I stumbled on this pretty cool widget for the Asus Eee Pad Transformer [tracking page] that allows you to monitor both the tablet battery and the keyboard docking station battery. Asus didn’t actually give us any way to keep track of the charge in the dock other than a blinking LED which is next to [...]

I managed to whip off a quick video showing some of the enhancements for the Eee Pad Transformer delivered by the Android Honeycomb 3.1 update. I bought my Eee Pad from Taiwan and the hardware identifies it as Taiwanese hardware so I think I got the update earlier than devices from other Countries. Asus claim some performance increases [...]

If you’ve been watching the news out of Computex you’ll have seen the Asus Padfone. This is a cool looking device that will allow you to dock your smartphone into the back of an Asus tablet and use the bigger touchscreen as well as some extra ports and perhaps a battery. But how about this beauty from [...]

Tweaktown shared a video of a new Honeycomb tablet that stands out form the crowd because it’s running a Qualcomm snapdragon processor. It’s made by Quanta, one of the world’s biggest contract PC manufacturers. It’s only a prototype but the first look video shows it has some good capability. It uses the MSM860 processor which is dual-core [...]

I managed to snap off this quick video testing HDMI out on the Acer Iconia A500. The retail unit doesn’t include a HDMI cable (it requires a mini HDMI connector) so I had to scrounge one up to test it on a monitor [...]

The Galaxy Tab 8.9, obviously the one with the 8.9 inch screen as opposed to the 10 inch, has appeared in a hands-on video from Germany, courtesy of NewGadgets.de. It’s met one of Samsung’s key requirements too: It’s thinner than the iPad 2. We’re looking forward to seeing what customizations Samsung includes with Honeycomb as [...]
