Asus Fonepad Unboxing

Posted on 26 April 2013 By Steve Chippy Paine

The Asus Fonepad arrived this morning and the unboxing video is already up.

Apart from a casing that wasn’t properly seated, everything seems to be working well and it confirms that the Asus Fonepad is excellent value. I’ll be doing comparisons with my 2+ year old Galaxy Tab to see how far the tablet space has come in that time. The Fonepad is running on an Intel Atom x86 CPU for a start! Prices have come down dramatically , the software has improved and screens are much better.

In order to give the keyboard a good test I’m writing this in WordPress for Android. Initial impressions are that the Galaxy Tab was more accurate but there are a lot of OSK options to be tested first. One thing that won’t improve is the effect that the bevelled edges have on comfort. The Galaxy Tab was much better.

  4. Full page fine PDF on fonepad. Not quite readable in portrait.

In portrait, not really good with full page and fine PDF print. Landscape is good though.
